My work is inspired by the elements of nature and the radical transformation of the landscape.
I work primarily with plywood using a style that I’ve developed over a number of years.
The wood is torn apart to reveal the interior, juxtaposing it with the painted surface and epidermal layers. The surface grains are revealed to show motion when illuminated from various angles or by different light sources. This causes the entire look of the work to change during the coarse of a day.
My recent body of work entitled, Frozen Desert, is a departure from my well-known circular pieces. The series, when complete, will consist of 50 large-scale wall relief’s that depict an isolated realm, filled with a kind of quiet passion.
