My paintings develop intuitively, though the seed ideas vary. I am moved by the transitory nature of life, by the darker side of human nature, by memories of people and places that no longer exist, and by the landscape - the contemplative places where the sky meets the land or sea.

The canvas becomes charged with these notions in dense, intersecting layers. Strokes are visual manifestations of feeling, explorations of the phenomena of color and its range of psychological consequences. Composed of organic forms that remain ambiguous, these abstract oil paintings represent a freedom from generic images.
