Artist Statement
Memories are fragile and fleeting, time is forever pushing at our backs. I try to fight back, to capture what's been lost. The tangible permanence of the photograph has replaced oral tradition, so the process of editing images is a matter of picking and choosing which memories are kept and which are thrown away. The stories that develop through my images are not always linear or resolved, but that is what happens when lived experience evolves into fragments of thought. The plot of memory is convenient to a specific momentŐs needs and is ever changing. By arranging photographs in groups on the wall it allows a space for the viewer to construct their own narratives, my memories mingling with theirs.
