Unsolicited Advice

As a sculptor I utilize materials such as steel, fabric, wood, and glass. I bring dissimilar elements together that interrelate to make a statement. My work tells a story — to that end, I sometimes use known symbols and/or familiar objects to help convey significant elements of the story I'm telling.

As a starting place for my work, I attempt to directly relate to the universal themes of human experience; specifically the power of emotion within interpersonal relationships. Everyone knows the feelings of joy, pain, embarrassment, pride, disappointment, fear, and achievement. And try though we may to suppress or ignore these feelings, my intent is to reach those places that we all collectively experience. In my efforts to touch places in you, I find myself more connected with my environment, my emotional experience, and myself.
