I use a vocabulary of metaphors which include the human body, fruit, vegetation and fossilized organic objects to comment on the human psyche as it relates to the world around it. Sometimes I start of with a particular message in mind. Other times I'll start with an image and composition that interests me and chnge things as it suits the outcome of the picture. I call these "Figurative Allegories" because, for me, they always end up telling a story - usually autobiographical - which I sometimes don't understand myself until the painting is done. The journey and unpredictable discovery keeps it interesting for me.
