Throughout my career, I have been fascinated by Goya's compositions, and have several times returned to them to study the energy and movement of his drawings and to translate these into modern idioms. In the series called "Deconstructions," I set his compositions free of all reference to subject matter, while adding vivid, often primary colors to his black and white compositions, to re-imagine and reinterpret Goya's concepts in purely abstract terms.
I also work from life forms and from purely non-objective subject matter. My current work is acrylic on canvas; I have also worked in oils, sculpture, photography, and collage.
