Dark narrative painting, showing the drama between people is my area of interest. Gesture and body language tell the purposefully ambiguous story; color and contrast imbibe the work with mood and feeling. Antagonism permeates and mystery penetrates the atmosphere. Dysfunctional relationships, sexuality, isolation, the balance of power between people are concepts I explore in my painting; a fleeting moment when a strange twisted expression surfaces.

Fear, love, hate, control are emotions I use and often viewers are sucked in and become voyeurs to the scene. I love it when they tell me "the story" of what is going on in the painting.

My work has been called mannered-realist and been compared to artists such as Eric Fischl. The Los Angeles times said " A kind of Neo-nourish atmosphere mixes with the psychological imagery to create narratives without closure. We end up as voyeurs, projecting our own character judgments on the figures in the paintings."
