Tarfest 2007

LAAA was a proud partner on the visual arts programming for Tarfest 2007. Commemorating its fifth year as the Mid-Wilshire festival of Film, Music and Art, Tarfest has grown from a small local celebration to one of LA's most vibrant and most attended annual cultural events.

Go Native Screening
September 20, 2007

LAAA's citywide Go Native programming kicks off at the Center for the Preservation of Democracy with a special screening of experimental, non-narrative short films juried by Artist Nicole Cohen. Currently, Cohen is featured in the installation Please Be Seated: A Video Installation at the Getty Center. The films shown at the screening offer up commentaries and analyses of Los Angeles' current cultural milieu. Go Native allows emerging time-based media artists the opportunity to show their work to a larger audience.

The Go Native screening panel comprised of artist and juror Nicole Cohen, LAAA Executive Director Peter Mays and internationally renowned video curator and expert Marc Glode respond to the screenings as well as the current state of time-based media art.
